You can't sit with us #lifethroughchocolate 📍: @snowdaysnyc
____
Shaved ice cream, the evolution of Taiwanese and Korean shaved ice desserts. It's almost a mixture of the eastern and western cultures coming together in one frozen treat. Snowdays describes the treat as having the fluffiness of snow, but the creamy taste of real ice cream.
Pretty in pink #lifethroughchocolate 📍: @motherruckers
____
Sweet and crisp almond cookies dipped in chocolate. These cookies from Mother Rucker's are perfect as a snack or a dessert 🤗 Karel Rucker and co founder Greg Raynes launched their sweets company in 2006 in Fort Worth, Texas. Karel had begun bombarding her coworkers and fiends with treats and traditional family recipes when she finally decided to turn her passion into a company with Greg's help. Now they've expanded with gourmet brownies and gift sets. Definitely a delicious way to start the weekend.
In pursuit of magic... Meaning something sweet #lifethroughchocolate
____ "In pursuit of magic" is a street art movement started by artist Kay Kendrick and photographer Chloe Crespi encouraging people to shift their perception and be more conscious about life. The self-proclaimed "positivity vandals" chose this particular open-ended phrase on purpose so that anyone who sees it can draw their own purpose and meaning in life from it.
Happy #nationalsmoresday ⛺️ #lifethroughchocolate 📍: @coolmessnyc
____
S'mores remind me of camping, with the burnt smell of a fire and roasting marshmallow's under a dark blue night with bright stars. This year, in the city, I found a new way to celebrate: making my own s'mores ice cream. I chose a chocolate base and then added graham crackers, marshmallows, and chocolate sauce mixed into the ice cream and to top it off! According to @real_simple , the first known recipe for S'mores was published in the Girl Scout handbook in 1927 originally labeling it as "some mores".
Don't eat too much 😊 #lifethroughchocolate 📍: @thechocolateroombrooklyn
____
Delighted and surprised by these tiny samples of chocolate gelato. The Chocolate Room brings a small taste to everyone who sits down in the shop to set you off on the right track. Even though they are small, the gesture was mighty and gave the place an elegant and fancy vibe. Little details go a long way.
Black is the new coconut #lifethroughchocolate 📍: @morgensternsnyc
____
Black ice cream is a divide between mind and curiosity. Your mind automatically warns you against pure black ice cream because it's abnormal, but if you're a foodie then your curiosity drives you towards trying it out. This ice cream was the creation of Nick Morgenstern, who tells @mic that the color is achieved by using a form of activated charcoal called coconut ash. The culinary genius said, “I had been monkeying around with coconut ash for a while and then I had this fancy chocolate bar that used [it]. We'd been wanting to put a coconut flavor on the board anyway so it was perfect." Apparently coconut ash very hard to find. Snapped this photo out front while @spoonuniversity tasted the flavor out to review on their snapchat channel!
A little Monday motivation #lifethroughchocolate 📍: @trademarknyc
____
What do you rise and grind for? Rise and grind is a variation of the saying "rise and shine". It bubbled up in Twitter and was adopted by snapchat as a filter because it resonated with people. Everyone's grinding for something. Chase your dreams today the same way I chase cookies everyday.
Chocolate frozen fruit soft serve ❤️ #lifethroughchocolate 📍: @chloesfruit
____
Chloe's is a soft serve fruit company with delicious frozen treats, sundaes and waffles! But how does their dark chocolate flavor qualify as a fruit variety? Chloe's chocolate soft serve fruit is made from the seeds of single origin cacao beans from Ecuador with a ring splash of banana to keep a smooth and ice cream-like consistency. Chloe's soft serve contains about half as much sugar as your average sorbet 🙌
Mochi for lyfe #lifethroughchocolate 📍: @mr_green_tea & @mrmochi
____
Mr. Green Tea Ice Cream company was founded in 1965 by Santo Emanuele in Brooklyn, NY. Sanyo saw an opening in the Japanese restaurant business and decided to develops new flavors of ice cream such as green tea, red bean & Ginger. Today, 3 generations later, you can find Mr. Green Tea in some of the finest restaurants around NYC. In 2009, it was even served at parties and festivities during the Sundance Film Festival.

____
Fire was considered a divine element by the ancient Greeks. They kept a continuously burning fire in front of the sanctuary Olympia where the ancient Olympic Games took place. The modern day torch connects athletes all around the world as t travels from country to country. The fire is still lit using the sun's rays and a mirror to ensure purity. #openingceremonies #rio2016
Happy #chocolatechipcookieday 🍪🍪🍪 #lifethroughchocolate 📍: @levainbakery 📷: @foodandwine
____ Did you know the chocolate chip cookie was invented by accident? The owner of Toll House Inn, Ruth Wakefield, used broken chocolate chunks in her cookie batter expecting it to melt. The chocolate pieces did not melt into the batter, but instead created the chocolate chip cookie! In 1939, nestle acquired Ruth's recipe by paying her with a lifetime supply of chocolate from them. Nestle then creates the well-known tear drop shape for the chocolate chunks that Ruth's recipe called for, creating what we know today as the chocolate chip. (Facts from @epicurious )
Happy #nationalicecreamsandwichday ❤️ #lifethroughchocolate 📷: @idk__food
____
The first ice cream sandwich is believed to have been invented in 1899 by a push cart peddler in the Bowery. Before the actual sandwich was created, ice cream vendors cut off slices of ice cream from a large chunk forming little bricks called "hokey-pokey's". They were named after the cry of the vendors "okey-pokey" to get people in the streets attention in the Whitechapel district of London.
A fab collab #lifethroughchocolate 📍: @morgensternsnyc
____
So much thought and creativity in one ice cream. @morgensternsnyc partnered with @mariobatali to create this masterpiece of flavors available only until August 7th. Made with a sour cherry sorbet made with season cherries and a Sicilian mascarpone ice cream with pistachio crumble make, Batali combines fruity and creamy to make an irresistible ice cream cone. Oh and as if the flavor wasn't enough, notice how the colors come together to represent the Italian flag. This partnership is part of Morgenstern's Heavy hitter series where proceeds will benefit the @foodbookfair
"I got 2 cones" - @iamkevingates #lifethroughchocolate 📍: @vanleeuwenicecream
____
Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice cream started in 2008 with a small yellow ice cream truck on a big mission. The 3 founders wanted to bring back the classic American ice cream truck using natural ingredients. They have both classic and vegan flavors made from the best artisan farmers and products worldwide. Their truck has since expanded into store fronts in NYC and LA as well as pints in grocery stores. Not to mention a beautiful brand known around the country. All of their ice cream is made in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.
Hanging with my kronies #lifethroughchocolate 📍: @joliessweetcreations
____
While wandering the street fair this morning, I came across these delicious looking cronuts. Rain had emptied the streets and Lexington looked deserted without cars and the mass of people a street fair usually brings. Some vendors stayed and stick it out even through the drizzle. One of the little tents was Jolie's Sweet Creations.

Jolie's is named after the four year old daughter of the owners of Enrico's pastry shop. The ship has offered traditional Jewish and Italian bakes goods for over 50 years. The bakery added on cronuts and doughnuts and names them Jolie's creations.
Chocolate tasting with the experts @chocolatenoise #lifethroughchocolate
____
Did you know the proper way to actually taste and enjoy chocolate is not shoving it down your face as quickly as you can? I had the pleasure to learn so many incredible things about chocolate last week with @chocolatenoise like how to break a bar open, smell it first and then chew 2-3 times before letting it melt in your mouth. By eating chocolate this way, you can learn to taste and appreciate the differences between more fruity chocolate bars, more nutty chocolate bars and more. The flavor of chocolate is affected by the cocoa bean itself, its origins, how it's dried, and so many other factors that I've never considered. Learn more about the bars we tried by clicking the link in @chocolatenoise bio.
A truly cool mess 😍 make your own ice cream! #lifethroughchocolate 📍: @coolmessnyc
____
CoolMess is the first ever ice cream parlor that enables you to craft your own special ice cream treat. Pick your base flavor and pour the liquid into the ice cream machines right at your table. You can watch the ice cream form in front of your eyes while adding mix in ingredients. @tastesbetterhere and I started with vanilla and added cookie dough, m and m's, sprinkles, and Oreos into the ice cream! Next, you scoop it into a bowl and top it with even more treats. CoolMess brings out the chef and creativity in every sweet lover.
