One of the most important things for the founder of SRSLY chocolate, Bob Williamson, is to not take things so seriously. The genius behind the little chocolate shop in Austin has a passion for chocolate stemming from the joy it brings to others. And while running a business often brings a lot of stress, Bob focuses on the happiness his product brings to customers as fuel to keep improving the business.
Bob started working with chocolate about 3 years ago in North Florida, before moving to Austin to pursue starting his own company. His food obsession began in the cheese industry. He loves working with foods that you can transform into something else. While the cheese industry first lit the fire of working with transformable substances, he decided to transition to working with chocolate because of the pure joy it brings to people.
SRSLY prides themselves on respecting the cacao industry and working with fair trade companies or in direct trade with the cacao farmers themselves to ensure all of the workers get paid. Most of their cacao comes from Haiti, Guatemala and the Dominican Republic.
Bob says the most challenging thing so far has been learning all of the different aspects of starting and running your own business. However, the community in Austin is incredibly close and creative, encouraging one another. In fact, SRSLY provides chocolate to Lick Honest Ice Cream and Chocolaterie Tessa as well as local whole foods and farmers markets in Austin, Georgia, Florida and Dallas.
As the company grows, more smiles spread across faces as they taste some of the best chocolate out there… SRSLY!
